I described that there are uncountable maid cafes in Akihabara. The major target of maid cafes is usually men and it is true that most of the customers are male in maid cafe. So does Japan not have something similar for mainly women? They do have. It’s a butler cafe.

Most of butler cafes require you to make a reservation in advance due to its popularity. Butler cafe is very similar to maid cafe in terms of its theme but the only difference is butler lookalike men are waiting for you instead of girls with maid outfits. Butler cafes share basic concept with maid cafe. In this cafe, you can pretend to be a wealthy person who have hired (handsome) butler at your house. You are returning to your house for a while. The butlers will greet and call you ‘lady’. Then the experience at butler cafe starts.

Swallowtail is one of the most popular butler cafes in Japan. It usually takes 2 weeks to make a reservation and you can book only through internet. Once you enter the cafe, you will be surprised by their behavior, such as holding your bags and jackets. You will feel like becoming a princess of one country. They will take you to your seat and explain how to use this themed cafe.

Basic rule is like this. Since you are a wealthy lady, doing something alone is not permitted. Do you want to have more tea? You should ring the bell. You want to go to washroom? No choice. You must ring the bell and go their with butler. The furniture and interior props are very antique so that it is also nice to enjoy their interior designs. You may feel very shy to call butler and ask of bringing you to somewhere, but don’t be shy. Because every customer there is in same situation! You can have either meal or tea, however, it’s very pricey. One menu usually costs JPY 3000~5000.

*Taking pictures is prohibited.

Konica Minolta Planetarium is located in Sunshine city Ikebukuro. It’s the best chance to see night sky fully filled with stars. The thing which makes the atmosphere of here more natural and real is the scents. There are several themes such as Africa, Antarctica, and fantasy. You can choose whatever you want and I recommend you that you should make a reservation in advance through internet if you have preferred theme, date and time.

The price differs from JPY 1500 to 4200 and it depends on which theme and seat you choose. Since here is planetarium, everything is being showed on the ceiling. If you choose the cheapest seat, it will cost only JPY 1500 per person but your neck will become painful. There is a seat called ‘yuki’ and ‘shiba’. Yuki means snow in Japanese and it is like a white sofa you can lie down. Shiba means grass and you can also lie down here. The price for yuki seat is JPY 3800 for 2 people. For shiba, it costs JPY 3500 for 2 people.

*For healing planetarium, the cost may differ.
